Gonna be my first time watching it. I started to buy it but since Toonami will premier it at 12:00am Saturday I'll watch it there.

I'm surprised they left most of the goriest bits and swearing intact, I did notice two edits though when Tetsuo is knocked off his motorcycle instead of saying "oh, *beep* he just grunts and when Kaori's shirt is ripped off her nipples are blurred.

Another scene that was digitally edited was the scene where Kei was running away from the military police and ran into a sewer. In the unedited version of the film, there was some grafitti in the scene that had "F--- you" in big, bold letters. The grafitti was digitally edited to say "Buck you" instead. I'm surprised that Adult Swim left the film about 98% intact.

I like how they translated the Japanese signs and boards into English, it was a nice addition as well as the remastering.

just finshed watching it on toonami. have to say, I don't get the hype. wasn't that into it personally. I was studying while watching it.

^ Akira needs your full, undivided attention in order to appreciate it fully. Maybe give it another chance without studying at the same time? Also, watch the original Japanese audio with English subs if possible.

Yea I liked it. It had a very good sci-fi horror feel to it, and gave me a lot to think about. having said that Princess Moanoke I put abouve it, but thats a personal preference.

Watch the Streamline dub. Bosch's voice and "acting" sucks (dude just reads lines in his own voice) and although I like Joshua Seth his voice wasn't a good pick for Tetsuo.

And yeah, it'll help for it to have no commercial interruptions.
