Akira is a Masterpiece ..i really liked the atmosphere and evertything

to be true ghost in the shell is entirely different. the only thing it shares with akira is the cyberpunk feel and the world people are living in. ghost is great though.

Neon Genesis Evangelion although is a very different story it shares the atmosphere (post-apocalyptic or as it is called in NGE post-2nd Impact) and the story's background (a group of kids).
Plus NGE is actually a TV Series (1995) currently being re-developed into 4 movies (with Evangelion 1.0, Evangelion 2.0 and Evengelion 3.0 released between 2007 and 2012 and 4th movie to be released in 2015).
