Jodie Foster considered not "sexy enough"?!

Boy, Hollywood really is too infatuated with overtly sex blonde types. Jodie Foster may not be either, but she's a naturally beautiful woman who has always been attainably attractive and her sexiness is not overt, but subtle. I cannot believe that the director would have any hesitation in casting her... you really have to have the stereotypical supermodel face to get noticed don't you? I bet they wanted someone conventional looking (aka boring) like Kim Basinger. Yikes! I'm glad we got Jodie, because she was a knockout in this film.

Oh man paradroid21 me too! Wow short beautiful young sexy brunette in that short mini skirt, crop top and heels!

She was an absolute stunner and wow what a sexy dance.

If she were my girl she'd be doing that at home though where she would be safe from strangers although NOT from me!

Jodie Foster looked gorgeous in that movie, no one could have been hotter!

Jodie Foster is a great actress, but I wouldn't call her beautiful. In this movie, the prosecutor was prettier than Foster.

However, Foster had certain physical traits that worked -- she was short, small, and defenseless-looking, which helped attract sympathy; and she managed to looked trashy, as her character indeed was a lower-class waitress who lived in a run-down trailer.

I think that's a matter of opinion. Foster is, by many accounts, very beautiful. In fact, the prosecutor, played by Kelly McGillis comes across as more butch than Foster, who was known for her tomboy persona as a teen.

I have read in the trivia section on here for the movie that they did want to cast Kim Basinger and Kelly Le Brock for Jodie's role. They offered Basinger money and she turned them down. It also said that the screenwriter wrote the script with Andie MacDowell in mind, but she also turned them down. The producer and director said that those who auditioned didn't want to do the rape scene, and that when Jodie Foster was finally cast and she saw the storyboards for the scene, she got very quiet..

I was reading the Trivia section and counted 7 actresses who turned down the role before Jodi Foster took it. Good for her that she not only portrayed an outstanding victim, but won an Academy Award for the role! She showed them.

I don't think that has anything to do with why Foster isn't considered "sexy enough."

The one thing that defined Jodie Foster as a kid and teen actress was that she was a major tomboy. So I think people who remember her when she was younger still have a hard time seeing her as sexy. It's like when Tilda Swinton got all dolled up last year for a movie and even though she looked great in, you just couldn't feel it because you couldn't get that androgynous image of her out of your head.
