Why does Salvano take off his shoes...?

This is a silly question, but every time I watch this movie I laugh when I see this...During the shootout in the parking structure, Nico is driving a car in reverse while Zagon's thughs are shooting at him. He aims his car at Salvano, who ends up hanging on for dear life on the back of the car. While he's pleading for Nico to stop the car, for some reason he reaches back, takes off one of his shoes, and throws it into the car (the back window is blown out.) The he reaches back and does the same with the other shoe. What's up with that???

Take THIS, George Lucas!

Ha ha, that's a very good question, Jimd. I assume he was trying to hit Nico with his shoes, or perhaps the thug intended to kill Nico with his foot odor. Either way, desperation had drove him to do a pretty silly thing!

LOL. This exact question and "What is that bartender guy doing there?" are asked every time I watch this movie with someone.

Perhaps this is the esoteric martial art known as "Kung Shoe" that Al Bundy tried pitching to those Fox executives in an episode of 'Married with Children.'
