I've heard in some Seagal interviews that Above The Law is somehow based on Seagulls own experiences(!) and his days as an ex CIA operative and what not lol. I doubt this can be confirmed but do anyone have some light to shed on this matter?

He was never in the CIA. But the opening parts about his Aikido background/inspiration etc... is all true. The CIA plot in this movie is just part of the movie.
