Is this worth buying?
I found this for 15 bucks at best buy, and i was wondering if it was worth it.
I loved the 2005 movie, and i just finished the 1953 one it was pretty good too.
Thoughts?
This is my point of view - I've always liked the 53 movie, I had fond memories of watching this TV show religiously when it first aired (I was a junior-senior in high school at the time) and I have NOT seen the Tom Cruise movie.
That said, the more I watch of this TV show, the more I'm enjoying it again. The premiere and the ep after that were a bit rocky, but it gets going very nicely. There's a few eps with Ann Robinson, reprising her role as Sylvia Van Buren. There's a great ep that deals with the '38 radio broadcast. And I haven't gotten to it yet, and I don't remember it, but John Colicos of Trek and original Galactica fame appears in an ep, too.
For $15, it's absolutely worth it!
P.S. The video quality of this DVD is not the best. It's really no better than broadcast TV, but it is watchable based on what I've seen so far. And there is absolutely no extras to speak of. But the show itself is good, and that is what I think really counts.
John Colicos appeared twice actuially, and was quite the memorable character. Quin was his name, I believe, a martian trapped in a human body.
