Maurice Evans-Path of Lies

I'm a great admirer of the late Maurice Evans (of Planet of the Apes fame). One thing puzzles me though. Did he really appear in the episode "Path of Lies" ?.

If so, the episode must have been filmed well in advance because he died nearly a year before its transmission.

If he does appear in it, does he feature much?

I was always under the impression that he retired and returned to England in the early 80's.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I was ready to give you a smartass answer, but if you check the search function on IMDB, which hosts this bb, you will find this episode listed as his final performance. Perhaps he was visiting in Canada. I will have to rustle through my season 2 tapes. One more in the longstanding tradition among English actors that they will do anything on US TV for money. I swear that I once saw an ad go by for Michael Caine and the Muppets.

It's not the same Maurice Evans. He was too ill and production for the second season had not gotten underway when he passed.

IMDB, as wonderful as it is, is often inaccurate, especially concerning same-named actors.

Many thanks!

I found it a bit hard to grasp myself!

So there appears to be another Maurice Evans out there.

Well, Clewis, I find it unlikely, anyway, that it is our mister Evans. I never got to see the second season, or I would know for sure. Most information out there is garnered from here, IMDB, so it is of no help.

I'm going to do some digging. I'll ask someone in the know when production started on the second season (I was quite sure it was late spring 1988, but my memory isn't that great). It could be he, I just felt it was very unlikely. I'll certainly let you know.

Take care, fellow Evans aficionado!

I stand corrected. Apparently the dying millionaire Samuels is, in fact, the same Maurice Evans. The season had barely begun filming when they shot him. Also, I was told he did a guest spot on another Frank Mancuso series, "Friday the 13th" as "some sort of monk or something." I didn't see that listed in his credits, so I'll look deeper. I'm interested about Mr. Evans doing work for Mancuso at the end of his life and I'm going to ask around for stories. Perhaps they were friends or favors were owed?

In my defense, some information on this board is erroneous. No one's fault, it's just the sheer amount of information. It's the nature of the beast that mistakes will be made.

Some news of note, none of the original cast members were asked to do any kind of commentary or interviews for the season one DVD. But, Paramount seems "reasonably pleased" with the sales so far and plans for the DVD release of season two are solid.

According to Tv.com, he played "Brother Gareth" in episode "Coven of Darkness".

You were right about the monk suggestion!

You might check on who Evans' LA agent was, there could be a connection to Mancuso.

Some sites list the Friday 13th actor as Maurice E. Evans. There apparently is a Canadian actor that goes by this name:

According to this, he was in a 1996 stage production of Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde.

Then again it just might be a coincidence.
