Yes no update, popular opinion seems to be that Paramount released Season 1 only because it helped build momentum for Krazy Kruise's War of the Worlds movie...unfortunately, unless sales of Season 1 are brisk, we could possibly never see Season 2 on DVD (excepting bootlegs and home versions)
shareI see no reason NOT to believe that the series was released simply to promote the new Spielberg flick. The fact that absolutely no care was taken to give us a proper presentation - remastered picture/sound, supplements, the alien hand intro - proves that this was a rushed job used to make a few extra bucks on the title. At least Season 1's following made the effort (if you want to call it that) worth the time, for the general disdain by fans towards season 2 will most likely lead to it never seeing the light of day. We should count our blessings that we got this much from Paramount.
shareDespite all the negativity here, War of the Worlds Season One was very cheap to put out on DVD, and there is the likelyhood that Paramount will respond with Season Two if there is a demand. Some letters may help, if anyone here knows to whom we could write. I'm told hand-written letters count for a lot. I would very much like Season Two, and thought the production values skyrocketed at the end of S1 and continued throughout S2. Since Adrian Paul is working on a new Highlander movie, perhaps Paramount will capitalize on his stardom.
share*sighs* ..that's always a shame, when a studio uses an opportunity to make more money so they can promote an upcoming film... why release the first season and not the last? ... there are fans of the show who would like very much to own the entire series and not just one season, besides, the final season was much better, to me anyways.. welp, just have to keep our fingers crossed
shareYes hopefully they will try to hype Adrian Paul who wasn't given much of a chance in Season 2 by the writers, I actually prefer him to the Ironhorse caricature of the "military" disbeliever

shareOn an individual basis, the eps of season 2 were smilar to the season 1 ones, but almost the entire setting, not to mention the alien invaders, was changed. So when you do get season 2, be prepared to take it on its own worth as opposed to a continuation of a story (like the later seasons in a series are supposed to).
