Why no season2 DVD?

I liked this season. The characters of "Mana" and "Malzor" is what I remember most about this entire show. Its been almost twenty years since I've seen any episode and I just found out it was avaiable and bought the first season to rewatch.
But it would not be the same without the second season.

Is the second season to be released?

If not, why?

I want Season 2, as well. But too many people bemoaned about Season 2 sucking - can't we just have it on DVD for the sake of having a complete set of the series. As a kid, I actually enjoyed Season 2 more than Season 1. The release of Season 1 really did turn out to be the studio's ploy to get some cash during Spielberg's film release.

You may be right. If so, it a shame.
I remember the second season being much better for whatever reason and would love to have it.

Sometimes the release of an additional season all depends on the success of the previous season releases. If it sells well, another season is released (though not necessarily quickly, I know of additional seasons for older shows taking years), if that season sells well, another is released. Look at Boy Meets World, season 1 sold well, season 2 sold less but still sold well enough, however, season 3 sales plummeted, so season 4 was cancelled. Also poor first season sales of Murphy Brown and Night Court lead to cancelation of other season releases.

I'm not confident that Season 2 will get released, and there are several reasons why.

One: Obviously, Season 1 was released with the 1953 re-release, perhaps in a hope that anyone looking for this film will spot the TV series, and will take it out of curiousity. This really suggests that Paramount Pictures didn't have full faith in the show selling on its own. This was also another War of the Worlds title they could usher it off with, and I don't see them having the confidence to release Season 2 on its own since there's no foreseeable release of anything with the War of the Worlds title coming from the P & P studio. The only hope, as thin as it may be, is that they sneak it out when the animated film version of Jeff Wayne's Musical Version of The War of the Worlds comes out, even though Wayne's version isn't their property. It's thin because I'm not sure how much publicity this film will get along with whether it'll get a wide distribution akin to Spielberg's film.

Two: Paramount may just be aware enough to know that any money they can leech out of the fanbase will be locked into the first season. Although there are about five (!) different threads dedicated to questioning the second season's release on these boards, it's still clear that fandom revolves around Season 1. Again, Paramount clearly didn't have confidence in strong sales, but figured between the two, odds are good that they can attract more money via the first season. This should not be confused with any idea that this is Paramount admitting their mistake for installing Frank Mancuso Jr. as showrunner in a vain attempt to get better ratings; to do so would require apologising to the fanbase, which would have started with a respectable DVD set.

Three: Money. Yep. It's that simple. Poor sales of sets from popular series like Night Court, Boy Meets World, and Who's the Boss? have halted future DVD releases. And let's be honest, as much as it kind of hurts the heart, some of these actually have a larger fanbase than War of the Worlds, so I can't imagine that its DVD set fared much better. To harp on a note from above, Paramount maybe factoring the smaller fanbase for Season 2 into consideration and pretty much came to the conclusion that it's not worth investing more money into.

Thank you for the tip. Am now watching season 2, which is a totally different series from season 1, but not in itself very bad. The stories have many more rip-offs - the episode I am currently watching is straight from Village of the Damned.

But is there any sillier costume in the horror genre than the violet quilted tablecloths that the human-morthrai wear in the final episode? They must have had to pay Denis Forest absurd-costume premium.

What tip?
seems it was deleted.
Where can you watch season 2?
Hopefully somewhere online?

It was an online store that sold a decent bootleg season 2. You might try ebay.

I'm not sure what it is, I guess its nothing to do with series, but I wish it was.

Beware of copied DVD's of season 2. They won't play on regular DVD players unless yours has a DVDR+R mode. The copies are horrible and dubbed directly from television also the sound is pretty bad.

I liked season 2 a little better than season one also. Glad I'm not alone here. Season one got to be a little too much like 'V' where the aliens try something that almost works and aren't smart enough to try it again after revising the plan. I do like the dystopian cyberpunk setting of Season 2. Now I'll admit that Season 2 came out when I loved all things Cyberpunk (shades of Blade Runner) but I liked the fact that Blackwood and his team often didn't always just outsmart the aliens. Sometimes the aliens lost because they overestimated themselves or a third party would complicate things.

I really hope Season 2 comes out. I'm not getting season one till..

Well, if Galactica: 1980 can be released, I don't see why season two can't be released.

I saw Galactica: 1980 when it was first shown on ITV. There was only one or two good episodes, but the rest was tripe.

I haven't seen WotW: Season two, and reading about it hear, I'm not sure I really want to.
