Cool little narrative trick I haven't seen elsewhere...

I just started watching this series for the first time, never having seen it on TV. (Got the DVD set on a hunch.) One thing I love about the show right from the get-go is the way the show begins with a black screen over which we hear an ominous quote from one of the charaters later in the show, and you're left to guess what the quote could possibly mean until it crops up later in the show. Very cool and spooky little storytelling technique!

Yes it was a little mysterious.

That was rather cool for the series. Too bad Paramount did'nt leave the alien hand going over the earth before the quote from the episode. It was rather a neat little tie in to the episode as we did'nt know who was saying it or it's context.

I think Have Gun, Will Travel did something similar.

Hm, interesting... I've heard of that show (it was a radio show as well, if I recall) but have never seen it. It does seem like every time I think I've seen something completely new, I usually find out someone did it before.

No it was a very good TV show with Richard Boone playing a moral gunslinger. Available on VHS.
