I liked this show when I was in elementary school as a kid but man I must admit the alien hand coming out of people's stomach's creeped me out. The hand just looked soooo creepy and slimy, but i do remember how at one point earth was normal than next thing you know the whole world was f^cked up, I never got that part of the show, someone please explain, because as soon as they were running around mad max style i stopped watching it.

Tuned in a week later and it was like watching a completly different series. very puzzling

I always seem to recall there being some explanation of an explosion causing the change to the Earth. I was only young when i saw this, so i may be getting it mixed up.
Good series though, used to be on late here, and it had all the marks of a late night tv show. Would love to see it again.
Paramount relpaced the writing staff in the second season and they changed everything. The new guy the brought in to run things said he never even watched the first season.

I was a teenager when this came out in the late 80's. I loved the show and would catch it when it was on but if something else was better then I would watch it. I would love to see this come back on.
I a surprised that the SCIFI Channel has not picked this up to show in marathons to help get it out on DVD box sets. That is what they usually do to get the show out on DVD.

It was the goriest show of its time, before X-files. It freaked me out.
I remember they fired a laser through a guy's head and then the camera viewed the aliens talking through the bloody gaping hole.
ANother a alien/human baby tore off the leg of a nurse.
Of course they loved the 2 fingers into the eyes technique to kill people.

That was some great effects for the late 80's you know and I am totally surprised that it did not catch on either. This show was great to watch! Yes it was before X-files which I do not think had anything on War Of The World's though.
