did they know they were getting canceled?

did they make the final episode at the last minute cause they knew they were getting canceled? or were they going to continue on the series after that and suddenly got canceled? If season 2 blended some of the changes and the dark themes with season 1 aliens storyline, I think it would have been a better show. season 2 had some improvements but it also had some flaws, mainly the alien storyline.

Well, the teaser at the end of "The True Believer" notes that the next episode "The Obelisk" is the final one - I think it's probably fair to say they knew the show was ending by mid-season, which is likely why Debi got a couple episodes of character development factoring into that finale.
