The Crazy Years in TV History

I was around 12 during the run of this series, and I swear the years surrounding this series was the most bizarre in TV history. First off, there was the "War of the Worlds" TV series which was strange but got even more strange with the 2nd season. Then there was that "Nightmare on Elm Street" series which really didn't have anything to do with Freddy. Finally, there was the "Friday the 13th" series which had absolutely nothing to do with Jason. Oh, and don't get me started on the "Alien Nation" series. OH MY GOD all the TV shows during that short span of time were really strange!!

I watched all these shows completely baffled as to why they had nothing to do with the movies. And to top it off, nobody but me remembers them! My parents don't even remember any of those TV shows! None of my friends or peers of the same age recall any of those TV shows either. For awhile, I thought I was imagining it all, till the internet came around and I was able to confirm those shows actually existed.

Did anyone else have this same experience with the strange TV shows that aired in the late 1980's and very early 1990's? As in: nobody believed you that they even existed?

Uh, what was wrong with Alien Nation? Good series. Also V, a classic.

I thought Friday the 13th-the series was an interesting show. I watched it whenever I got the chance (I was 25 at the time I think).
Then I saw War of the Worlds in the TV listings and a big fan of the movie, I had to see what that was about. I wasn't disappointed. Instantly became one of my favorite shows at the time. Season Two I thought was a strange follow-up though. And the final episode seemed illogical in relation to the whole concept of the movie and series.
Didnt get into Alien Nation (hadn't even seen the movie).
There was a whole slew of shows that came out at the time such as Counterstrike and Superboy but I never saw any of those.
War of the Worlds (which I sometimes videotaped) and Friday the 13th were the newer shows that I watched at the time.

Thank God for IMDb, where people remember all this stuff. Thank you, God!
