What channel and time slot did Superboy air? Help

For the life of me I have never heard of this show. This did not air in prime time did it? I'm a big Superman fan and I can not believe I missed this show. Thank god for DVD.

Don't feel bad that you never saw this show. I never saw it either, but for good reason. The episodes only aired twice (due to studio issues not quality or ratings issues because both the quality and ratings were apparently very good). Also, it did not air everywhere and the time slot varied by market. Remember, this was the second show ever to be made specifically for syndication. Star Trek: The Next Generation beat it by a like 6 months.

It's just weird to me I never heard of it. Now seeing pictures from the show and reading good things about it makes wait the DVDs more. Can't wait for it.

From reading the Salkind interview on the Superman Homepage, it sounds like the show was supressed because the rights were held by 3 different parties.

It ran on WPWR channel 50 in Chicago during its first run, then a couple years later it was rerun on Fox channel 32. thats the last I ever saw of it. I've been waiting for the dvd release for a long time now.

If memory serves me correctly, this series was originally filmed at the Disney/MGM studios in Orlando, FL. It later moved to the Universal Studios in Orlando. (Someone please correct me if I'm wrong. I remember taking the "Backstate Tour" at Disney/MGM in the late 80's & remember seeing the "Superboy, now in production" sign.

I also remember a TV Guide ad showing the Lana actress w/Superboy and stating something like, "Whenever Lana goes on a date, she always brings protection." An obvious take on the use a condom ads.

You are correct about the studios. I never saw that TV Guide ad. That's funny. I wonder if there's a poster around of that one.

I have a copy of that ad and a few others.

I use to love that show! I was about 11 in 1989-1990 and I seem to remember watching it on Saturday's late in the afternoon, I would say either 04:30 or 05:00 CST. I know I was only 11 and that may seem to lack credit, but daycare was closed on the weekends, Sunday was my mothers day off and Saturday was the one day I had the TV 100% to myself. That's why I am so sure of the time. Superboy was the last show I watched before my mom got home around 5:15. I watched Silver Spoons, Charles in Charge and SUPERBOY!!! Awesome show.

That was in Saint Joseph, Missouri, by the way. About 50 miles north of Kansas City. I know gepgraphical areas played a part in whether or not it was aired. I would say I watched my last episode around 1991 and I missed it when it was gone. Thank goodness it was a short wait to Lois and Clark.

Wow, the power of a memory when associating trivial, meaningless thoughts, huh?

Syndicated shows air at the discretion of the tv stations that buy them.

Back in the late 80s/early 1990s, it use to air in syndication on our local NBC station around 7 or 7:30 PM on Sat nights

Superboy was a syndicated show, meaning it did not air on any network. We got the second season of Superboy in 89-90 on KBVO-TV 42 (Now KEYE) in Austin, TX. In was very rare that 42 bought anything in syndication, and when they bought something, they stuck with standards like Kate and Allie or Who's the Boss?. So getting something like Superboy was a rare treat. It was paired with The New Lassie on Sundays from 6-7pm. After that season, KBVO discontinued showing it because, as usual, they did not have faith in new programming.

Im in the UK and I remember this show from when I was a kid. It was on at 5:30am, yes AM!!, on ITV. I used to get my Dad to set the video to record it for me. I have fond memories of this show, thats why I have ordered it from playusa.com. I shall hopefully receive it the day after tomorrow. What a weekend it will be!!!

I saw many episodes of this series and I liked it despite the cheap special effects. Comic books will be pleased since many of the comic writers had input to this show....This is where you get pre-Crisis Superboy in action!
