Did this show help cause the Clinton presidency?

There was a sense in 1992 that things weren't right. That the economy wasn't bouncing back. That the recession was still alive.

Historians say that things were actually on the rebound in 1992 yet the sentiment persisted.

This show had Dan losing his bike business and Roseanne having to become a waitress. Talk about tough times! I think this show would absolutely have made Republicans turn Democrats because Roseanne and Dan were doing it tough.

No. People have always faced hard times economically regardless of who is in office. A lot of people saw their factory jobs go during the 1990's so did that mean a push for Jr Bush? I have not trusted the government to tell the truth on the economy for decades so that means both the Democrats and the Republicans are equally to blame. The economy is bright for a shrinking percentage of the US population and has been for nearly three generations. This has been talked about in other threads here but I will sum up by saying Dan was a poor judge of the bike shop's potential and that ruined him. The Lanford economy had been eroding for many years prior it just took a while for a big hit to happen such as Wellman closing.
