She was always so selfish. I just watched an episode the other night where Dan lost the motorcycle business and Becky's big concern was that Mark didn't have a job and might be moving away. She accused her dad of not knowing how to run a business. Now I'm watching an episode where she's bitching out her mother because she wouldn't spend $80 for a prom dress. She really was the most selfish little brat.

i think she played the role of selfish brat well.
i also think becky was a good daughter. she helped her parents a lot with cleaning, and babysitting. she never got many thank yous from her parents for helping around the house.

she was always there to help her parents when they needed help. while darlene didnt do much around the house and gave everyone attitude.

As a mother of a teenager let me tell you it's not entirely outside the realm of possibility for them to only think of themselves. Adolescence is distinctly marked by a perspective that they are the center of the universe. I went through it (not to this extent I'll admit), so I think the writing of her character was fairly accurate. I do also agree with previous posters. She was an overall good kid. She played mom when both parents had to work, all while maintaining good grades, and she complained only once about it that I can recall. Her one weakness was Mark, which is also not uncommon for teen girls. Aside from that, she wasn't all that bad. Not by a long shot. Darlene is my favorite character but she was miserable, angsty, and completely detached from the family during her teen years. That would be more selfish in my opinion.
