Hairstyles and Tone of the Show
From watching both the early and later seasons it seems like the longer Roseanne's hair got and the shorter Dan's hair got, the more serious and dramatic the show became.

Becky's attitude changed for the worst with the shorter hair.. in my opinion the short haircut was really ugly....
She looked the best with the long straight hair and the head band very feminine...
I agree! I can't believe Lecy actually wanted her hair cut like that so bad. If I remember correctly, the producers wouldn't let her and Roseanne cut Lecy's hair herself to spite them.
shareShort hair on girls was in at the time (early '90s). Although, I agree: with Lecy's already round face, it wasn't too flattering.
BUT: it DID look good in the Season 4 premiere/ those episodes, when it was short, straightened and with streaks. THAT was flattering :)
Ugh, yeah, that short hair looked AWFUL on her, but I gather from some other stuff I've seen from around the same time that that was just a popular style at the time. She looked best with the shorter hair she had when Lecy came back after Sarah.
But Becky's attitude change coinciding with her haircut makes sense. She's sort of changing who she is, and that includes changing her attitude and behavior as well as her hair.
She did look bad with short hair and the perm wasn't that great either.
Life moves pretty fast. If you don’t stop & look around once in awhile you could miss it - Ferris
I agree, Roseanne had long hair in the first season as well anyway. It was just as long as her mean phase in Season 6, except it was permed.
