Fred suing Jackie for custody

I know in the episode, it was played out like the women were on Jackie's side and the men were on Fred's side but I think that Fred had a good reason for suing for custody. He wasn't a bad guy and just wanted to be in his child's life. He had money to pay for the child and Jackie didn't seem to have any good reason to keep him out of the child's life. Is it weird that as a woman, I have always been on Fred's side?

reply

Nope, its not weird! I am a woman & I always sided with Fred too. 

Jackie was completely over the top & frankly, completely a selfish bitch in this episode!
Who did she think she was, trying to keep Fred from his baby?!

Its not like Fred was abusive or controlling or just plain cruel...if he had been I could certainly understand Jackie keeping the baby away.

But she was doing it solely to hurt, and I'm glad that even Roseanne finally told her off.

I'd say this cloud is Cumulo Nimbus.
Didn't he discover America?
Penfold, shush.

Not weird at all. I'm also a woman, and think Jackie was absolutely in the wrong the way she was treating Fred. If she didn't want to date him, fine. But I could see no purpose to cutting him out of the baby's life. It wasn't fair to him nor was it right for the child. Imagine staying on that course, and several years later the questions Andy would have:

Andy: Mom, all my friends have dads. Why don't I have one?

Jackie: You do have a father, but he's not allowed to have a relationship with you.

Andy: Why, Mom? Is he in jail? A drug addict? Abusive? Just mean? A drunk?

Jackie: No, Andy. Just a steady but boring guy I laid in a one night stand and never wanted to see again. He's actually a nice, responsible guy.

Andy: So why can't I see him? Doesn't he want to see me?

Jackie: Yes, he has always wanted to see you and be part of your life. I just don't want him around. There's really no good reason, that's just the way I want things

A know a lot of women that do this. I work with one, who's son goes to his father's house on weekends, and she tells me how much she dislikes his wife (her ex is remarried), and is always putting her down in front of the kid; also she badmouth's her son's father to him, to the point that when he has to go over there on Friday night, he doesn't want to go. To summerize, women who use their kids against their father's is only a power grab, and I think that's what Jackie was doing.

Forgive me if I'm wrong as it's been awhile since I last saw this episode, but wasn't Fred suing for sole custody?

reply

you arent alone. i too was on his side. it isnt like he was going to take the baby away from her, which was her fear.

he just wanted to be part of his childs life. that is a great father in my opinion.

i also hate the way roseanne talked to dan in this episode. calling him stupid

reply

I was on his side up until Roseanne had said what she said about Jackie being with fisher. As much as I hated Jackies mentality to it. I had to reason that I don't much about life or her decisions to things. It sucks when a boyfriend beats the *beep* out of you and a year later your pregnant with a guy who is the complete opposite as the *beep* before.
