missed opportunity

Other than that ridiculous final episode, they never really had a great scene or episode with a connection between Darlene and Mark.

Maybe like Darlene's car breaking down on the way to Chicago. Dan is going thru something so Mark decides to not tell him and goes to help her instead.

Darlene finally admits that he is a good husband to Becky and not a bad guy. She thanks him for helping her. Mark tells her 'like it or not I'm family. Besides what was I going to do, send David to help you?' They both have a big laugh.

Oh, that would've been good! Other than Darlene admitting to Becky that she thinks Mark is really good-looking, you're right, they never really had a moment.

And if they DID have some kind of moment like that, it'd be easier to envision what the "real" timeline where Darlene is actually with Mark is supposed to look like.

There was that episode where Mark talks to Darlene about Becky spending so much time with David and then he offers to drive her to the bus station. I think it was "Rear Window."

Switching the couples was stupid.. Mark and Darlene would not be attracted to one another.. unless their personalities were different in "real" life as opposed to Roseanne's "fictional book"

Exactly. Let's just get the superficial stuff out of the way: Mark was much more attractive than Darlene, so he wouldn't have settled for her, physically. No offense.

Personality-wise, Darlene would've been instantly BORED of Mark, just like it was portrayed on the series! LOL. She needed someone who at least stimulated her intellectually (like David did).

Alot of people also can't buy Becky one being with David but maybe Becky 2 would.

Also, at very least if we ignore the end of the last epsiode crap, we can think that Becky one and ESPECIALLY Becky 2 would be David's friend if they were both single where as I doubt Darlene and Mark would really ever interact beyond the way they do now.
