Brian in Chicken Hearts

He was a total idiot. Why would he fire Roseanne in her own house, with her family having his project in their clutches. He could have just blown smoke up her butt by telling her she could have weekends off. Then leave, turn in his project for school and fire her the next day she worked.

He was probably the dumbest character in the whole series.

i agree. he wasnt thinking clearly. he could have def waited next day and fired her for something stupid like her attitude problem.

reply

they could have had becky sleep with him...he wanted her.

the ending made no sense in the real world, but they had to write it that way.. if he had waited until he was in the clear to fire her, there'd be no conflict.. and no scene with Dan stalking him around the kitchen table muttering "what's wrong with you, BUB?"

You know who was responsible for writing that horrible, horrible episode, right?

JOSS FREAKIN' WHEDON!!!!!!!

It's possibly the worst thing he's ever written, and I'm not forgetting that he wrote the toad lightning line in "X-Men," or "Alien: Resurrection."

reply

Isn't it possible that the producers or Roseanne herself dictated the plot and Whedon just had to fill it up with dialog?

reply

I did a double take watching the episode where Darlene had to read her poem and they had the nerd reciting his "Fly Away" poem. I almost thought it was Brian.

Hated that kid and his poem

I made the same exact comment a few years ago on this board.

I think he planned to fire her the next day, but when Roseanne cornered him and forced his hand, he (stupidly) had to move up his plan right then and there.

He could've just said, "Fine." Then when they got to work after his shop project had already been turned in said, "It's not going to work. If you still can't work Saturdays, I'm afraid I'm going to have to let you go."

But like so many sitcoms, they traded logic for the sake of drama there.
