Why name the baby Harris?

Wouldn't that remind them all of evil Grandpa who beat and abused them?

Al - Alicia
An - Andrew
Jo - Joseph
Be - Benjamin

reply

It's her mother's maiden name.

reply

Yeah but it's also the last name of Grandpa Al, the guy who went from his only fault being playing "pull my finger", to a horrible man who abused his children and cheated on his wife for 20 years.

But I don't think anyone would make that much of a connection "Oh her first name is your mom's maiden name which is also the last name of your horrible grandfather!"

reply

It's her mother's maiden name.

Bev's maiden name was Harris and she married a man whose last name was Harris as well? How odd. I guess I didn't remember that.

I was going to correct you that it was DARLENE'S mother's maiden name, but now that you mention it, Mary's name was said to be Harris, as well, right? Marrying someone with same last name is not unheard of, but it does happen.

at least my late ex's dad got off easy, his mother's name was Douglass. not exactly "Clark Kent" material, but same principal.

Because it was Season 9.

More like Darlene was awful and pretentious (in the end). I'm surprised she didn't name the child something like Poe (or some other writer)Harris-Connor-Healy. I love when I get kids like that (I'm a teacher) and their mother (sometimes dad too) think its the second coming. Usually, though, the kid is sweet and just as feed up with mom (and dad).

reply

Maybe they wanted to reclaim it for something good? I dunno. Any way you slice it, it's a horrible name for a girl.

reply

some local sorts dude in StL just had a kid, her name was ...not Jenner...but something goofy like that that had to be a family surname passed down and there was no way to shorten it. poor kid.

...I'm thinking MAYBE she could go by "Denny", so a "??dden" name? Ledden? Haddan/Danny?
now it's going to bug me and I don't really care!
google only gives me first in 2017, then Tarasenko back on May 17. OFW

ETA: I think it may have been LENNON?
so the parents were likely either John Lennon fans, Tom Lennon (RENO911) fans, or it's a family (sur)name they gave her?

I agree. Unless they gave her a middle name, she doesn't really have much to fall back on as Conner and Healy don't work well as first names for a girl.
