HA! DJ - David

I know DJ stands for David Jakob , but they never really reveal that but only in 3 episodes ( I think )
1. We not in Kansas anymore
2. Chicken hearts - Roseanne putting vacuum in closet after cleaning for Brian's visit and DJ is hiding in closet and she says " David Jakob I see you "
3. In episode when Roseanne had her birthday and Dan build her writing room downstairs - after they had cake Roseanne asked kids to clean up and Darlene said to DJ -" David you have to help "

i think roseanne liked the name David. because Davids name in first time he was introduces was Kevin.

and she said he looked more like David.

not quite.

Johnny had another role at the time where his character's name was David, and SAG rules at the time said you cannot play a character on two different shows with the same name. (aside from obvious crossovers. I doubt John's cop on the Grace Under Fire pilot was named anything close to "Dan Conner" or any other role he's done.)

So, since Johnny was filming two series at once, he couldn't be called "David" on both, hence his first job had the rights to that name. Fortunately, his role (and that series?) ended immediately after he appeared on Roseanne, and they simply ignored his first name, calling him "David" every episode after that.
(ok, French-Canadian exchange student "Davide" in "That's My Rosie" ep.)
