RIP, but I never liked her as Dan's crazy mom. I also didn't like her portrayal, because Carrie was against such portrayals of mentally ill people.
i didnt like that episode either of how they made Dans mom. i just like that scene where she smacks DJ for that comment about her daughter.
she was Truby on the Golden Girls. When Dorothy was going to marry Stan again, they were looking for a roommate for after Dorothy moved out and They wanted Truby to move in.

That's funny, because Carrie WROTE THAT EPISODE. So she would know how funny she could play it up without getting offended. Working out a few things with her own mother was probably a bit cathartic for her, aside from Postcards.
also, Michael took the literal hit for all the fanboys for that "gold bikini" remark. I thought it was hilarious when I found out she had written the ep and realized what she had done by proxy thru her mother. Carrie often made fun of herself and her portrayal of Leia, and esp that bikini, so don't hate her or the scene.

Had to be a tough scene for Debbie Reynolds to wrestle with Rosanne Barr on the lawn. It likely was not all that soft of a surface to get pancaked.
