What happened to her? For the first couple of seasons, she was Roseanne's best friend/Dan's stepmother/Eddie's wife and then...gone. It was gradual at first, then they got rid of her like she never existed.
You laugh at me because I'm different. I laugh at you because you're all the same.
The actress left the show to focus on raising her children. As you said she popped up a few times here and there but I believe after season 6 or 7 she left permanently.

Yes, the actress had a baby in real life. But I also think Roseanne had an agenda towards later season (i.e. GAY!!!!), therefore Nancy moved into the foreground while Crystal was phased out.
And Crystal was in Season 8's opening episode, "Shower the People You Love with Stuff".
She did have an agenda and a wrong view. Look at how Leon hated that gay wedding full of stereotypes she planned for him. As with many things, she was always right (even if she was wrong).
I know the actress left to focus on her children, but from a writing standpoint I don't understand it at all. Dan seemed to be mending his relationship with his father and then we never saw him again, Dan never brings up his half-siblings at all. It seems like especially when Jackie got pregnant it would've made sense for Crystal to pop up again, maybe not permanently but just because she'd have a couple toddlers and I don't know, they could write something there.
The episode where they're trying to get money to start up The Lunchbox was on the other day and it occurred to me, why didn't they ask Crystal, Anne-Marie, and Bonnie to join in on their venture? With the six of them (Roseanne, Jackie, and Nancy), they wouldn't have had to put up as much money per person, and then they wouldn't have had to deal with Bev or Leon later on. I know they say in the episode they don't want to ask Anne-Marie or Crystal for the $10,000 they need because Crystal's got 3 kids and Anne-Marie's husband was out of work, but if they asked BOTH of them plus Bonnie they'd each only need to put up less than $4000 (more if they were splitting the $40,000 payment among the six of them total instead of just $10,000 for the other three).
But it also just bugs me that not only do we never see Crystal after a certain point, other than one or two appearances, they don't even mention her. I HATE that. They can't just throw us a bone every now and then, make a joke about Crystal having just dropped off like 100 baby pictures for them to look at, mention that Dan's not home at the moment because he's fixing something for Crystal? It wouldn't have to be an every episode thing, just a once in a while mention would've been nice. Oh well.
Dan points this out in the s8 finale fight. He claims his family can't come over because hers practically lives there.
She counters with it never stopped him from visiting them, or inviting them to D&D's wedding, etc.
and Crystal IS at the lottery party. She's sitting on the arm of the couch, back to camera, but she turns enough to confirm it really is Natalie. Ed, however, only had like 4-5 appearances: Father's Day, when we first meet him; two thanksgivings, the first he hits on his ex, the second Dan finds out about his affair with Crystal; their Wedding; Lies My Father Told Me.
