Comet TV

An open air "check you local listings" channel that plays old science fiction shows and movies (kinda like back SyFy when it was the Sci-Fi Channel). I bring it up because they've got some movies that played on MST, and some worthy of it.

Last month they played Alien from LA some, and this month they're playing Robot Holocaust and Squirm, and there have been other films that would've made for decent riffing.

So check your local listings or the Comet TV website to check out some MST3K fodder by themselves...and some that would be good for the reboot 

This month, they're playing The Bat People, which played on MST3K as It Lives by Night

reply

Where can one see these fine movies without the puppet show desecrations?

reply

This month they're playing Mike's "first love" with The Brain that Wouldn't Die

reply

This month they have Otlaw of Gor, which played on the show as Outlaw

It's a Tubularboobular joy!

Who would actually want to see this stuff without the riffs? I dare them to watch the non-mst3k versions of Manos and Eegah back to back. Then they will truly know the suffering one faces under the full power of Deep Hurting.

reply

This month, they're adding The Incredible Melting Man to the mix.

Make sure to bring crackers.

Just saw an ad on Comet TV for MST3K on Saturday nights. It states it'll be Saturday nights, but it also stated it begins 9/4/2016 which is a Sunday of Labor Day weekend. I am unable to find the MST3K info at their website http://www.comettv.com/ concerning broadcast times/day[s]. Since I wasn't paying a lot of attention to the commercial, wondering if others may have info. If not, there is a Godzilla marathon Labor Day weekend that includes Godzilla Raids Again where Godzilla fights Anguirus which I haven't seen on TV since before Mom&Dad bought a color TV

reply

Yeah. The impression I got is that the regularly scheduled day will be Saturday, but the premier will be a Sunday double feature. Happy happy!

reply

Neat! 

...though will they play episodes that show non-science fiction movies 

reply

You weren't missing much, since 'Godzilla Raids Again' was filmed in black-and-white.

They're once again playing Alien from L.A.

And while they're playing some Godzilla movies, I'm sad to report that "vs. Megalon" and "vs. the Sea Monster" aren't among them 

reply

Yep, MST3K will air Sundays at 8PM!

They're once again playing Alien from LA and Robot Holocaust , while adding Bat People--which played on the show as It Lives by Night--to the mix.

How fascinating that they're playing MST3K along with unriffed versions of movies they used 

reply

The Brain That Wouldn't Die is back in the mix

Comet must only have a few.

Batwoman is back after only a month away!!

I said it before, I'll say it again:

I'm always happy to see MST3K on OTA TV networks, but-- and it's a big but-- the Sunday "double-feature" is the worst of all possible scheduling.

It's especially dumb because of the limited availability of episodes. You would think this is all the more reason to spread out what they've got.

I've enjoyed MST3K marathons, and I binge-watch shows at times. But I find two back-to-back episodes to be overkill. I can't keep up, especially since there are so many long commercial breaks, and I can't be bothered to record one every week.

Why not one episode on the weekend, and one mid-week? Even splitting them over Saturday and Sunday would be an improvement.

I'd like to see a viewer poll about this; if it turns out that most people like a Sunday mini-marathon, so be it.

reply

Hmm, they just showed Manos Hands of Fate again. I guess they didn't order many episodes.

Am grateful for dvr.
Let's me speed through commercials.
Can view 2hr, 15 min. in less than 1.5 hr.

They're playing Squirm again
