My Friend

Does anybody know where I can find out about my friend ( Thomas ) Patrick McFadden ?? He has since died, but once told me that he had appeared as an uncredited extra in 2 episodes of " JTTOU " one of which included the January. 5th. 1989 episode titled " Personal Best " where Wendy joins the track team.

In that episode he claimed that when the nun was to shoot a gun to start the race, the racers were to start running as the parents in the stands watched. The camera was to be on the parents in the stands as it happened. But when they first filmed that bit, once the gun was fired, he was the only one in the stands who ducked & it wasn't written in the script for him to do that. He claimed to me " I didn't care if it wasn't a real gun, if I hear a gunshot I duck ". Anyway, the director thought that it would be a great idea if everybody in the stands ducked when the nun would shoot the gun so they did.

I have never been able to find the 2 episodes in countless amount of vcr tapes filled with yesterday's tv shows, so I can't see him in it for myself. Also, he did a brief appearance in the " Dick Tracy " movie starring Warren Beatty. In that he's the photographer dressed up in red (on the right side of your screen )taking a picture of Dick as he's stepping out of the theatre ( ?? ) in the beginning of the movie.

I know this has been a long post, but if anyone can help, I would appreciate it !!!!

The nun you mentioned, was it Marie?

reply

No it was the late Maxine Elliot Hicks ( sister Ethel ), not Marie, the nun in training.

I LOVED Sister Ethel. Actually, the entire staff of St. Augie's was great. Father Bud was hilarious - in one episode, the girls are cheering in the hall, and after they're done, he yells, "Great going, girls! Nice skirts! I mean WORK - nice WORK!!"
Father Hargas (sp?) was so cynical and glib.
I know this show was on over 15 years ago, and only lasted 3 seasons, but it was one of the funniest comedies I've ever seen. Another poster on these boards is right - it was way ahead of its time.
