Hutsman,
I'll look into seeing about finding the episode in my vcr tape " vault ". Of course unless I can find a retape version from those shown on the USA network, I may not be able to determine what specifically was cut out of this specific episode.
Moving on: YEP !!!! TV shows are 21 minutes now without the commercials & includes the short time it takes to fast forward. In Daytime, it's even more. For example in 1996, " All My Children " would take 45 minutes to watch. Now, it's 39. Up until recently " The Bold And The Beautiful ", currently the USA's only half hour soap took 21 minutes, now it's 19.
Going back to primetime, when we used to get those 24 minutes of show plus commercials, we'd get 28 minutes if you don't count the 2 minutes given to the affilliates at the end of the show, I would just let the commercials run, especially when it came to ABC. The first break was typically 55 to 70 seconds long, in most cases much shorter than the opening theme song. I may be sappy when it comes to this, but boy do I miss hearing a theme song lasting from a minute to a minute & a half.
Can you imagine " The Brady Bunch " with an " amputated " theme song, or with none at all ???? Based on what I can remember, ABC always had longer theme songs & were the first to hack them & then take 'em out completely.
I remember discussing my favorite tv shows as a kid to my co-workers years back. I remember saying something to the effect of " I can't believe this is the same ABC that aired the first season of ' Wonder Woman 'clocking with a 1 minute & 40 second theme song ". I believe the " Happy Days " theme song " Rock Around The Clock " was about 1 minute & 36 seconds give or take a few seconds.
Well sorry I made this long, but I'll get with the bulletin board as soon as I find and view the episode. I'll even tell you the commercials aired in it's original broadcast.
AJ
