I remember the episode! After Elizabeth (the mom) made the humorous analogy to God sounding like Phil Rizzuto, people heard about this and there was a bit of a media circus in the front yard of the Lubbock residence because people wanted to pray with Elizabeth. Then, because of the growing hoopla, Elizabeth stopped hearing God's voice, and life was on its way back to normal. At the very end of the episode, alone in the front yard Father Hargraves (spelling?) is shown kneeling, and confesses - outloud with his head raised to the sky - that he's gotten the message, and that he's listening.
I don't remember exactly when the show ended, just that I still miss it. You can check TV.com for the episode guide to see the timeframe between the original airing of this episode and the final episode airing.
