Was this before the movies?
I never even heard of these series until we got the Chill channel recently, so I'm just wondering is this a "tv show turning into a movie" type of thing, or was it made into a show during/after the movies?
shareThe first movie was in 1984. The show didn't start until 1988. The show was a spinoff to cash in on Freddy's popularity.
It started the same year as Nightmare 4. Interesting to note is that the lighting/colors of the show are very similar to that of Nightmare 4.
Considering the fact that the pilot episode was meant as a prequel to the film series, you could say that this was before the movies.
