I was watching part of the first episode on Youtube and I can honestly say taht Freddy Krueger looked better AFTER he was burnt alive...sounded better too...I know he wasn't like that before he was set on fire but I thought the way they had him in the beginning seemed to be a bit of a joke. He didn't look right, he didn't sound right, I couldn't believe it was the same actor.

Plus, he went to court in the red and green sweater. Hahaha.

Well in the beginning I believe it was Robert Englund's regular voice. There is a youtube clip of Robert showing how they create Freddy's voice using this distortion program that slows down and deepens it. But I agree, he sounds so much less sinister in his regular voice! Heehee!
