question about someone mentioned in 'The World'

i'm watching the 2nd part right now and in the 2 episodes they talk about a girl named Molly...who is she? i'm assuming she may have been a sister who died? it's a little confusing to me?

I believe she was mcmurphy's sister who died in a car crash with the father driving.
