Well John Sacret Young said he has all the material in his head for the modern-day revisit of some of the characters, with Dana reprising the McMurphy role.
He said "book." But then when they started talking about a sequel based on his ideas, it wasn't clear to me if he was going to bypass the book and just write a screenplay or something.
Not sure we have heard more. I last heard about this last fall. No news on the John Sacret Young side here on IMDB in terms of a "Production" or "Writing" credit along these lines.
So makes me think we are in a waiting game........
My take on it is the young, attention span challenged, shallow turks who make TV programming decisions and weren't even around during Vietnam will probably laugh in his face if he pitches this to them, sadly.
Look at the crap that is on ABC now and look at this show on ABC years ago.
Sacret Young certainly has the credentials to produce something fantastic--and his reputation is stellar with his subsequent shows.
But I bet it would be hard to get this commissioned in this day and age.
