When the guys find the canoe and camping gear near the end, and Vic is there waiting for them, Vic says:
"You're not going home, I'm not gonna let you."
Then he immediately starts chasing after Alan, and Alan trips and Vic grabs him, but gets hit with the paddle.
Was he going to strike Alan or talk some sense into him, you think, or what?
I've seen this movie a million times and I think it looks like Vic is going to hit Alan or something, but that's just me. I really don't think he would be allowed to do that for obvious reasons.

Yeah, he probobly felt Vic had the tendancy to harm him throughout the movie.

Yes I have to agree with you that Vic was more than likely going to hit Alan. You also have to remember that back in those days discipline was done a lot differently than what it is done now a days.
Today you are not allowed to spank your own child. I know that there are people out there that abused that right you know but there are some kids I feel these days that do need some discipline you know.
I watched it recently when I spent time on active duty in the Navy. When I joined the Navy it was the old ways. If they wanted to come up to you and get into your face and call you every name in the book they could during basic training.
Now a days they cannot even single a person out and tell them to drop and do push ups or anything like that anymore. That is why I was glad to get out of this new Navy. I just could not stand it at all having people younger than me and less time in the service looking at me and say "Why beep are you to tell me what to do?"
I sat there and looked at them and told them they are lucky that they are not out in the fleet because my hand would have been around their throats and up against the wall for talking to me that way!
A lot of todays generation lacks the discipline that I received growing up. No disrespect to anyone. I am just speaking the truth you know.
