location of the river scenes?
Was thinking this was the feather river in california - anyone confirm?

I worked on the entire shoot in 1985 and you are partially right. most of the first river scenes were filmed in Shasta california, on the Hearst Estate. The "big" water shots were added when the crew went to New Zealand almost a year later. We did a lot of filming at Gold Lake,Bucks Lake, Sardine Lakes, Sierra Buttes and Highway 70 along the Feather River.
