Who would let their kids go on a trip like this?

I hope Vick had these kid's parents sign some type of a waiver that if they were killed he could not be sued.

I doubt seriously that the character of Vic, as presented in the film, would be intelligent enough to think that far ahead.

Vic was a thrill seeker. Most guides are much tamer and respect the danger of nature.

Waivbers do not cover your ass if you cause the death.

Too often stupid peopl etink "They signed a waiver...so even though my own stupidity or incompetence caused their injury, I am covered." Doesn't work that way. A waiver would only cover uncontrollable accidents.

Exactly.

Taking kids with no prior mountain climbing experience whatsoever, and having them scale, and pendulum over high peaks, is something that no waiver can cover. That is just gross negligence. Vic would even be in deep doo-doo for taking Alan, who has no outdoor experience, down a raging white-water river.

But the only reason I see any competent parent(s) sending their kids on something like this is, if they were tricked or mislead by Vic. He does make it seem like he will be with the kids every step of the way. But you also have to factor that he probably ran across a lot of those lazy parents, who would spend any amount of money to get rid of their kids for a period of time. Or the parents who would rather pay somebody else to entertain their kids, than them to have to do it themselves...
