5.5?
people rate this movie so low... It's an unpretentious film, but very good IMO...

The movie took far too long to deliver the goods. The scenes with Sean Astin reflecting on his experiences was nothing more than filler. The script was just too weak.

5.5 was a little high in my opinion; this movie stunk. Bad acting across the board, little to plot development, and a lot of really bad music (plus the pointless "narration" scenes by Sean Astin).
Honestly, it felt like something that I would have liked as a kid, and probably retained a nostalgic childhood fondness for....unfortunately, i didn't see it until last night, and it was embarrassingly bad.
The concept definitely had potential for a great "coming-of-age" movie, but it never really delivered, which is too bad considering that both Sean Astin and Kevin Bacon are both decent actors.
