Wrong. The majority of the film was shot in northern California. To be specific, it was shot for several weeks around the Mount Shasta area and then the remaining film was shot around Quincy California. I believe some of the white water scenes may have been shot in New Zealand, but only a small minority of the film.
shareSome of it was indeed filmed in Canada...near Petawawa, Ontario to be specific. I have a friend who has photos from 1986 when she met Kevin Bacon and some of the crew while filming.
