I know that the main character is related to Josh Randel, Wanted Dead or Alive the original, but does it explain that he is, or is implied by the title of the movie and surman of the main character

At one point in the movie, he tells another character that he remembered sitting with his Grandfather, Joshua, who would get drunk and tell him stories about being a bounty hunter in the old West. That pretty much ties him by blood to Josh Randall from the TV series.

The name is Josh Randall. He is supposed to be Nick Randall's great grandfather. Yes there is a scene where Nick's grandfather tells him tales of the old west, but they were stories grandpa had heard from his father, Josh Randall.
