Cruise would have been better

I read that Tom Cruise was originally considered for the Bud Fox role. He would have been a better choice, especially given his age at the time it was made. Sheen comes off like a scumbag from the start but Cruise could have played the more idealistic, earnest bit better which would have made Bud's fall more dramatic. When Sheen was objecting to cutting some corners in his initial meetings with Gordon it doesn't ring true to me.

I didn't know that Lemon was being considered for the father part, that would have been great and the interplay between him and Cruise would have been better. Martin Sheen did a decent job but it ended up being sort of a gimmick as he was Charlie's dad in real life. Cruise had that quality of being the young, idealistic go-getter down, nobody was better at it than him at that time.
