sexual harrassment

I was entertained by the prevalence and general acceptance of sexual harrassment in this film, which I'm sure was purposeful on Stone's part. I imagine that that kind of casual "flirting" must have been quite grating in real life. I'm sure if some dude cold-called me with a marriage proposal I would hang up straight away.

You'd have to ask women who worked in offices in the 1970s and 80s what it was like for them. But I think that Fox knew Gekko's secretary was an older, mature woman and his "marriage" talk was only done to loosen her up. It's not like he kept asking for a date or made sexual comments over the phone.

"May I bone your kipper, Mademoiselle?"

flirting isn't sexual harassment, she knew he just wanted to meet Gekko
