What's with Terence Stamp's terrible, wooden acting in this?

Normally he's fine, but in this Stamp looks like he's reading off a card. It's really wooden and awful!

I just saw him as a cool customer, a much less emotional personality than Gekko. I think he played him very British.

Stamp was perfect! go look at the "I can break you mate!" scene again!

reply

I agree with this, i think Stamp done a fine job here.

Would have been even better if he told Gekko to "kneel before Zod!"

reply

No we need something more clever; maybe if 'Rush' drummer Neil Peart was visiting & they are lining up for lunch the waiter tells Stamp, 'Sorry; Neil's before Zod'.

Why can't you wretched prey creatures understand that the Universe doesn't owe you anything!?

His accent bizarrely sounds fake, like an American doing an impression of a Brit, when he is actually British. It's really weird.

reply

I find sometimes he just kinda... does that sometimes, and it still works for me.

I thought he was OK, and the ice cold exterior matched the character

The most wooden character was Alix, one of Gekko's guys. Bud must have hated having dinner with him, hana.

He was his perfect, stone cold self. I'll never forget his matter of fact line in "Valkyrie": "Remember, this is a military operation; nothing ever goes according to plan. "
