Just Noticed a BIG Error. . .

"Flaw," "absurdity," or whatever you wanna call it:

The famous ending scene in the courtroom, when the Judge switches the juries, has always been one of the silliest parts of a movie I otherwise like A LOT. Even before I knew anything about courtroom procedures, I Knew that scenario was laughably inaccurate. . .there's just No Way that would ever happen. For *several* reasons. It's just not how any of that works.

BUT.

It's even worse than I thought. . .on my umpteenth viewing the other day, I got to the courtroom scene, and realized: THERE WOULDN'T EVEN BE A JURY THERE.

Federal Tax trials Have No Juries.

(Facepalm).

Ah well. To quote the poet: "Every movie has a fatal flaw." Still love this flick.

Good point.
Also, Capone's Lawyer switching his pleas to guilty without even consulting him. Just so we could get a scene of DeNiro punching him.

After your umpteenth viewing did it occur to you the only accurate "facts" in this movie are Ness, Capone, and Nitti existed and Capone was convicted of income tax evasion?
