where does it rank?

Forgive me for first admitting I have yet to see The Untouchables. I have it DVR'd and I plan to watch it very soon. Before, however, I'd like to get opinions on how great of a movie I am about to see.

When I think of my own favorites I think of (in no particular order):
GF and GF2
Goodfellas
Scarface
Casino
Donnie Brasco
Reservoir Dogs
Carlito's Way (the Pacino version)

Are we talking ^this^ good? as in TOP tier good?

Or are we talking second or third tier (I don't know if this may be insulting, again I have not seen this yet so don't kill me)?:
Eastern Promises
Road to Pardition
The Departed
We Own The Night
Public Enemies
A History of Violence

What does everyone think? I am really interested in hearing any thoughts, thanks in advance for your input.

It was a big deal at the time and launched Costner and Andy Garcia to stardom.

However with the benefit of hindsight, the Untouchables would be an outlier in your first group of films, and maybe even the second.

Whose idea was it for the word "Lisp" to have an "S" in it?

It's not really a Mafia film. It's more of an action/adventure movie that's got style to burn. I'd say it has more in common with Indiana Jones than The Godfather.
