In spite of it's flaws...

This film really lays it on thick. Everything is way over-done. The music, the acting, the dramatic situations, the violence, and, above all else, the sentimentality. But, it is a very enjoyable movie (with a capitol "M"), and it puts forth a 200% effort in making an emotional impact. It is just a blast to watch. Even though he has stumbled now and again, De Palma is an extremely gifted filmmaker.

And, even though the music is a little quirky and heavy-handed, the theme in the beginning struck a home run. When the title stopped moving sideways, and began drifting away, Morricone hit the nail on the head with every pounding beat. What a great composer.
