Tell-Tale Heart?

Isn't this movie kind-of like the Tell-Tale Heart? When Owen wanted Mama to die, and when the police first came to his house looking for Larry, you could hear Owen's heartbeat. He then tried to get the police to catch Larry red-handed. Isn't that, (in some way), kind-of like the Tell-Tale Heart?

I thought it was a comedy version of "Strangers on a Train."

It is, it owes a huge debt to Hitchcock's film.
