Hitchcock tributes
Besides the obvious nod to "Strangers on a Train", I noticed other Hitchcockian influences. Like the borrowed car with the brakes not working, careening out of control (especially since the camera was undercranked during filming, making the car appear to be going faster than it was) reminded me of North by Northwest and Suspicion. And Owen forcing Larry out onto the ledge, since Hitch liked using precarious high places (Statue of Liberty, Mount Rushmore, the clock tower from Vertigo). I was expecting Owen to grab Larry's sleeve and pop some of the shoulder seams. The pantry scene, repeatedly threatening to reveal Larry to the police was very reminiscent of Hitchcock too.
Nice foreshadowing too with the kiddie train at the park and Owen playing with the toy trains.
