the scene in the begining of the film he reads a students story and i think it reads 100 woman i'd like to *beep* but they dubbed it and he is saying pork... it's on the dvd so is that part of the movie or something?
I noticed that, too, about "pork." Though upon reflection, it strikes me as odd that they'd dub it out, because there are two actual F-bombs in the movie already--ones that aren't dubbed out:
1) The one night when Larry Donner is obsessing over the perfect words for "The night was humid", they immediately cut to a scene of him over the typewriter where he shouts, "*beep* it!" and then types out "The night was humid" on his typewriter.
2) When Larry busts in on Lester and Miss Gladstone after hearing that Margaret's gone missing at sea, and Miss Gladstone starts to reconstruct just how Larry could have committed Margaret's murder, and Lester laughs and says, "Whatever it is, man, you're fuc king guilty!"
The really weird thing is, you almost don't even notice them!
man i got pissed at this. i got this dvd version from the $5 bin @ walmart. i know they show this movie on AMC all the time, but everytime they show it i never get a chance to see the whole thing. anyhow, i kept rewinding the dvd to this part, because i thought i got an edited dvd. I was reassured when i heard cursing later on throughout the movie though.
"Personally I think pork is funnier. *beep* is too obvious."
agreed, pork just was more fitting for the character i felt. given that today younger kids(in college myself) never say "i wanna pork that person" its more of an older word choice so it fit perfectly with the creepy old pervert guy character

I wonder if they planned on it though... I know they were probably trying to avoid an R-rating, so they went back and edited it, but it's so PAINFULLY obvious that it's edited. When Billy Crystal says it, it's so obvious that it isn't his voice. It's almost like they planned on editing it as a joke. If they really needed to go back and edit, I just wonder why they couldn't have gotten Billy to come into the studio one day to just say "pork" into a microphone.

I think it's Billy saying it, but because it's months later in a looping booth it would be nearly impossible to match the same delivery. "To f--" leads to a different vocal approach than "To pork." The laziness in the editing was to not have Billy just say "pork", but why not just re-do the entire line so it matches his voice the rest of the statement? If you can't re-shoot, at least do the above.
