Easy Reader No More..

Pauline Kael, the late great film critic for the New Yorker, began her review of this film, asking if Morgan Freeman was America´s best actor. When I finally rented it at the time , I noticed the picture on the videocase of the man she was talking about and was stunned, EAsy Reader from the Electric Company?! I grew up watching him on that children´s show so very long ago, hhis superb voice teaching me and thousands of kids how to enunciate. This was the man?

Absolutly.

At the age of 50, after 25 years of stage( On and Off Broadway)The world discovered this superb actor in a performance that is to be studied, a perfectly modulated piece of acting that could have gone the wayside of a stereotype and instead he creats a character that is both terrifing and sypathetic. His volanic energy comes at you, you a witnessing an actor, after years of hard work unleashed! It is no surprise that Premiere, a few months back have this perfomance as on of the 100 best of all time. It´ll make you want to be an actor. Now , of course he has become the elder statesman, deservedly perhaps, but never again did he approach a role like this, with this kind of energy. He was nominate dfor the Oscar, and won every major critics award for his work here. Perseverance won, and we actors and audiences are the better for it.
