I've thought of something...does Reeve's character here have anything in common with Clark Kent? Since they're both journalists?

Not really. Reeve's character was losing his job, so made up a story to help get him back on the pay role.

Well, they're both journalists, they're both played by Chris Reeve... hmm... I know there must be something else...
