The commentary ....

I could NOT believe how horrible the commentary on this movie was!

The guy who made the movie couldn't remember half the sh*t that was going on, the other guy there had to flat out ask him questions to keep the commentary moving forward. It just got ridiculous I ended up taking it off after about 45 minutes. TERRIBLE.

They should have not even put it on the DVD seriously...what were these folks thinking?

Children misbehaving in the basement and one in the wall doing his business God knows where

Thanks for the inadvertent heads up. I've been waiting to get a DVD version of the movie for years just for the commentary and behind the scenes stuff too. Reading what you wrote make it seems like it would be a waste of time and $. Are there deleted scenes at least?

i actually thought it was pretty good, if a bit dry and not super informational.

I got a bigger kick out of the commentary than the movie itself (and I thought the movie was great!)

First, you have a director who really should have done a little homework before spending the next hour and a half acting like he had no idea what the hell he was watching.

And then you have some horror-loving super-geek who just loved to show off how he has wasted his entire life watching every horror movie over and over and over, memorizing every line and every fact that he can find about each one as if he's going to be tested on it when he reaches the pearly gates...

Super-geek: This was obviously a reference to The Birds
Director: It was?

Super-geek: And this is obviously a reference to The Shining
Director: Didn't my movie come first?

Super-geek: Why were the deleted scenes all taken out?
Director: Deleted scenes? I sure don't remember any deleted scenes. We had way too low of a budget to delete any scenes.

Super-geek: *really excited* I can't believe that you had all of this explicit nudity!!!
Director: It lasted all of three seconds. Do you want me to leave the room for a minute so that you can freeze-frame it and take care of "business" to Jill Schoelen for the 5-millionth time?

Super-geek: How do you explain how he was able to keep taking his beard on and off at the beginning of the movie to keep fooling his first family while preparing for his next family?
Director: Good lord, would you please just GET A LIFE?!?!?

Glad you liked it Doc.

It's been so long since I posted that (2-1/2 years) that I was beginning to wonder if you would EVER see my reply!

Yeah, the commentary is great. I'm gonna have to watch that movie again someday JUST for the commentary!

The director is unbelievable, there were deleted scenes, scenes that in the tv version of The Stepfather. I remember them clearly.

Why belittle someone for being passionate about a film genre??? This is IMDB right?? Pretty sure a lot of people here are passionate about film.
